How to Pick Your First Order in Fulnex

Picking is the heart of warehouse operations. In Fulnex, you pick from a cellphone — no specialized scanner needed. This guide walks through picking your very first order, from opening the pick list to marking it complete. Once you've done one, you (or any team member) can pick hundreds.

Before you start

  • Fulnex account with WooCommerce connected
  • Bin locations set up (see Set Up Bin Locations guide)
  • Products scanned into bins
  • At least one order pulled from WooCommerce
  • A smartphone (Android or iPhone) with a camera
1

Open Fulnex on the phone you'll pick with

On the phone you'll use for picking, open a browser (Chrome on Android, Safari on iPhone) and go to fulnex.cloud. Log in with your staff account.

  • Use the picker's own phone — they don't need a special device
  • Bookmark fulnex.cloud or save it to the home screen for one-tap access
  • First time? Allow camera access when prompted (needed for barcode scanning)
Tip

On iPhone, tap 'Share → Add to Home Screen' to make Fulnex feel like a native app.

2

Navigate to the Picking page

Tap the menu icon and select 'Picking'. You'll see a list of orders ready to pick. New orders appear here automatically — usually within 2-5 minutes of being placed on WooCommerce.

  • Orders are sorted by priority — urgent ones at the top
  • Each card shows: order number, customer, item count, time waiting
  • A red flame icon means the order has been waiting too long
What you should see

You should see at least one order card on the Picking page. If the list is empty, place a test order on your WooCommerce store and wait 5 minutes for it to sync.

3

Tap an order to start picking

Tap any order card to open the full pick list. You'll see every item the customer ordered, sorted by bin location for the most efficient walking path.

  • Items are listed in pick order — Fulnex routes you efficiently
  • Each line shows: bin location, SKU, product name, quantity to pick
  • Tap 'Start Picking' to begin the workflow
4

Walk to the first bin

Fulnex highlights the next bin to visit. Walk there. The screen shows the bin code in big text so you can find it quickly on the shelves.

Tip

On larger orders, Fulnex groups items by aisle so you don't backtrack. Trust the order — don't try to outsmart it.

5

Scan the bin barcode

Tap the scan button. Your phone's camera opens. Point it at the barcode label on the physical bin. The scanner reads it automatically — no need to take a photo.

  • Hold the phone 15-30 cm from the barcode
  • Good lighting helps — most warehouses have enough
  • The scanner beeps and vibrates when it reads successfully
Important

If the scan fails after 3 attempts, the bin code probably doesn't match what's in Fulnex. Check the label and the system code — they must be identical (A-01 ≠ A01).

6

Scan the product

Once the bin is confirmed, the screen prompts you to scan the product. Point the camera at the product's barcode (usually on the package).

  • Most products have EAN-13 barcodes — Fulnex reads them all
  • If a product has no barcode, you can type the SKU manually
  • Picking the wrong product? The system blocks you and shows a warning
What you should see

After scanning, the screen shows the product name and asks for the quantity to pick.

7

Confirm the quantity

Enter how many you're picking (default matches what's ordered). Tap 'Confirm'. The item is now marked picked, and Fulnex moves you to the next item on the list.

Tip

If a customer ordered 5 but only 3 are physically in the bin, enter 3. Fulnex will flag the shortage and find the rest from another bin automatically.

8

Continue until the list is empty

Repeat steps 4-7 for each line item. Fulnex tracks progress — you'll see how many items are done vs remaining at the top of the screen.

9

Mark the pick complete

Once every line is picked, tap 'Complete Pick'. The order moves to the Packing queue and you can start the next pick. Stock is automatically deducted from bins.

What you should see

The order disappears from your picking queue and shows up in Packing for the next person (or yourself) to handle. WooCommerce stock levels update across all your stores within seconds.

Troubleshooting

Camera won't open when I tap scan

Your browser needs camera permission. On Chrome (Android): tap the padlock in the address bar → Permissions → Camera → Allow. On iPhone (Safari): Settings → Safari → Camera → Allow.

Wrong product scanned — how do I undo?

Tap the back arrow on that line item. You can re-scan. If you've already confirmed quantity, tap 'Edit' on the picked line to adjust or undo.

Item shows out of stock but it's physically there

Stock may be out of sync. Tap the order menu → 'Refresh Stock'. If still wrong, the product needs to be scanned back into the bin — use the Receiving flow.

App is slow on the warehouse WiFi

Fulnex is designed to work on patchy WiFi but if it's really slow, switch the phone to mobile data temporarily. The data usage is minimal.
