How to Connect WooCommerce to Fulnex in 10 Minutes

Connecting your WooCommerce store to Fulnex takes about 10 minutes. The hardest part is generating the API keys in WooCommerce — once that's done, you copy three values into Fulnex and the sync starts. This guide walks through every step with what to click and what to expect.

Before you start

  • Admin access to your WooCommerce store
  • A Fulnex account (sign up free if you don't have one yet)
  • 10 minutes of uninterrupted time
1

Add a new portal in Fulnex

Log in to your Fulnex account at fulnex.cloud. Navigate to the Portals section using the side menu. Click the 'Add Portal' or 'Connect Store' button to start the setup.

  • Portal name: any label that helps you identify this store (e.g. 'Main Store')
  • Store URL: your full WooCommerce URL including https://
  • Leave Consumer Key and Consumer Secret blank for now — we'll fill them in Step 4
Tip

Open Fulnex in one browser tab and your WooCommerce admin in another. You'll be switching between them.

2

Open WooCommerce REST API settings

Switch to your WooCommerce admin tab. Navigate to the REST API settings to generate the keys Fulnex needs.

  • Log into your WooCommerce admin (typically at yourstore.co.za/wp-admin)
  • Navigate to: WooCommerce → Settings → Advanced → REST API
  • You should see a list of existing API keys (probably empty)
3

Generate the API keys

Click 'Add key' (or 'Create an API key' depending on your WooCommerce version). Fill in the form with these specific values.

  • Description: type 'Fulnex' so you remember what this key is for
  • User: select an admin user (yourself)
  • Permissions: select 'Read/Write' — Fulnex needs to update order status
  • Click 'Generate API key'
Important

WooCommerce only shows you the Consumer Secret ONCE. Copy both the Consumer Key and Consumer Secret to a temporary text file before closing the page. If you lose them, you'll have to delete the key and start over.

4

Paste the keys into Fulnex

Switch back to the Fulnex tab where you started the portal setup. Paste the Consumer Key and Consumer Secret into the matching fields. Click 'Save' or 'Connect'.

What you should see

Fulnex immediately tests the connection. You should see a green 'Connection successful' message within a few seconds.

5

Wait for the first sync

Once connected, Fulnex starts pulling your products and orders. The first sync takes between 30 seconds and 5 minutes depending on how many products you have.

  • Watch the progress indicator on the Portals page
  • Products page shows products appearing as they import
  • Orders page shows recent orders flowing in
Tip

While you wait, this is a great time to start planning your bin locations. See the next how-to guide.

6

Test the integration with a real order

Once the first sync completes, do one quick test to make sure everything is talking to each other properly. This catches problems early before you depend on it.

  • Place a test order on your WooCommerce store (or wait for a real one)
  • Within 5 minutes, the order should appear in Fulnex's Orders page
  • Try changing the order status in WooCommerce — the change should reflect in Fulnex
What you should see

If both the order appearance and status sync work, your integration is fully operational. From now on, Fulnex syncs automatically every 2-5 minutes.

Troubleshooting

Authentication failed

Double-check your API keys. The most common cause is selecting 'Read' instead of 'Read/Write' in WooCommerce. Delete the key in WooCommerce and create a new one with Read/Write permissions.

Store unreachable

Your URL is wrong or your store is offline. Check that the URL includes https:// and has NO trailing slash. Try opening the URL in a browser to confirm the store is accessible.

Sync starts but no products appear

Check your WordPress permalinks (Settings → Permalinks). Set them to 'Post name' or 'Pretty Permalinks'. Then trigger a manual sync from the Portals page in Fulnex.

Some orders are missing

Fulnex only pulls orders from the last 30 days by default. If you need older orders, contact support to request a full historical import.
